Swimming Pool Facility Compliance Upgrades: How to Select an AI Drowning Prevention System

In recent years, safety management requirements for swimming pool facilities have been continuously tightened across various regions. Drowning prevention equipment has gradually shifted from "optional" to "mandatory." Facing a growing number of AI drowning prevention systems on the market, facility managers often find themselves lost in parameter comparisons when selecting a system. In fact, by focusing on real-world usage scenarios and key dimensions, a more reliable decision can be made.

First, focus on the system's recognition capability, not just the "accuracy rate" claimed in marketing materials. A pool environment is complex, with changing lighting, ripples, obstruction by swimmers, and even disinfectant mist. A mature AI system should operate stably under these disturbances. It is recommended to inspect the system's performance in a real pool, especially its response speed to high-risk behaviors such as "remaining motionless," "sinking to the bottom," and "abnormal struggling." A truly useful system does not alarm only after drowning occurs; it provides clear alerts within the golden rescue window.

Second, pay attention to the false alarm rate. Too many false alarms can directly lead to staff becoming desensitized, ultimately rendering the system useless. A good AI drowning prevention system uses multi-camera coordination, target tracking algorithms, and deep learning models to distinguish between normal underwater swimming, diving, and truly dangerous movements, keeping false alarms within an acceptable range. When selecting a system, you can ask the manufacturer to provide third-party test reports or long-term operation data from existing venues, rather than relying only on demonstration videos.

Third, consider system compatibility and installation costs. Renovating existing venues often faces spatial constraints. Does installation require closing the facility? Will camera placement affect the existing decoration? Can the system interface with the venue's current broadcasting, large screens, or management platform? These practical issues affect deployment efficiency even more than specifications. It is recommended to choose products that support flexible deployment and edge computing capabilities, reducing reliance on central servers and making future expansion easier.

In addition, after-sales service is equally critical. AI systems require continuous model upgrades to adapt to swimming habits in different seasons and among different groups of people. Whether the manufacturer provides localized services, fault response time, and annual calibration and maintenance should all be written into the procurement contract. Facility managers should prioritize suppliers with experience in sports venue projects and the ability to provide a complete training system.

Finally, do not forget compliance. Verify that the product has relevant testing certifications and meets local or industry requirements for intelligent security equipment. Selection is not about choosing the most expensive option, but about matching the pool type, visitor flow, and operational model of your own venue. Refer to actual feedback from peers, conduct a small-scale trial before full rollout, and you can significantly reduce decision-making risks. Safety is no small matter. With more caution in selection, daily operations will run with greater ease.
